Discolouration

When water becomes discoloured, Dee Valley Water makes every effort to get supplies back to normal as soon as possible.

Discolouration can very occasionally occur when iron and manganese deposits inside water mains are disturbed. This happens when flows or pressures change, as a result of a burst for example.

Discoloured water as a result of iron and manganese, although looking unappealing, is unlikely to have any health implications. Iron and manganese occur naturally in our diet and are in fact essential elements in our nutrition.

If discolouration occurs, avoid using washing machines and dishwashers as it may result in staining. Let the cold water tap run for a few minutes until the water runs clear. If this does not happen, please contact us on 01978 846946.
